Meet Chris Vanderydt

Rooted in Community
Chris grew up in Newbury, where small-town life shaped who he is — the kind of place where people know their neighbours and show up for each other. That's a value he's carried with him ever since.
For 30 years, Chris has worked as a paramedic, the last 25 as an Advanced Care Paramedic in the City of London. Alongside frontline work, he's spent years teaching the next generation of paramedics, both at Fanshawe College and through LHSC's base hospital program.
Chris married his high school sweetheart, Tricia — is an ordained minister and a Primary Care Paramedic in London and his partner in everything — Together they raised their family in Strathroy. Five years ago, they fell in love with a property in Grand Bend and made the move here with their youngest, who went on to attend elementary school in the community. What started as a beautiful piece of property has become home — and a place Chris and Tricia have grown to love as deeply as the people in it.
Now, after three decades of responding to his community's toughest moments, Chris is looking for a new way to serve — this time from the council table. As a proud member of the Grand Bend Legion, he and Tricia have helped raise funds for causes including the Grand Bend Food Pantry, Sarnia CAS, the Women's Interval Home of Sarnia and most recently a fundraising BBQ for Wounded Warriors. This year, they celebrated 25 years of marriage in the town they now call home.
Chris is running for Ward 1 Councillor because he believes steady judgment, hard work, and genuine care for community can make a real difference on council — the same qualities that have guided his entire career.
